We at Dream Canyon Animists invite you to gather with us at the threshold of Mabon, the Autumn Equinox, when day and night stand in equal measure and the balance begins to tip toward the long dark.
This festival’s teller will be Darren, who will carry us into story for this turning of the year.
Mabon is a festival of balance, harvest, and descent. It is the second harvest, when apples grow heavy on the branch, leaves begin to golden and fall, and the meadows and hills whisper of endings. It is a time of gratitude and reckoning — a pause between abundance and letting go.
Yet balance does not mean tameness. The stories remind us that what sustains us is often born of courage and wildness — the kind that rides into the dark, fearless, laughing, carrying only what is true.
The land teaches us to give thanks for what has ripened, to let fall what is ready to return to earth, and to carry forward the fierce fruits of our labor, love, and imagination into the nights ahead.
“We’ll gather in good company — weaving the season through story, song, craft, and a shared feast. Please bring a dish from your harvest to share.”
Equinox asks us to stand in the center, between light and shadow, summer and winter, growth and stillness. We come together in song, craft, story, and feast to honor the turning of the wheel, to root ourselves in gratitude, and to remember: what we harvest now will carry us through the dark.
