Part One: Cataracts & Complex Anterior Segment Overview

Presented by Cullen Ryburn, MD
Dr. Ryburn will dive into some of the most frequently asked questions from optometrists when managing complex anterior segment pathology. You’ll learn about the latest treatment algorithms, emerging technologies, and case-based strategies for:

• Traumatic cataracts and loose zonules
• Dislocated lenses and IOLs
• Aniridia and artificial iris solutions
• Managing complications and optimizing outcomes in challenging anterior seg cases

Part Two: The Posterior Perspective – Scleral-Fixated IOLs

Presented by Andrew Zheng, MD
Dr. Zheng will transition into the posterior segment, addressing scenarios where retina specialists step in for advanced IOL fixation techniques. His talk will include:

• What scleral fixation is, and how it differs from traditional cataract surgery
• Indications for scleral fixation: trauma, retinal surgery history, pseudoexfoliation, and genetic disorders
• Surgical vs. observational decision-making
• UGH syndrome
• The Yamane Technique and the importance of IOL selection
• Post-operative considerations

• 1 Hour of CE credit is available to licensed optometrists.
