Ibrahim Babayev is one of Azerbaijan’s most promising tar masters – a composer and producer whose music bridges tradition and innovation. By blending the rich sound of the tar (a traditional Azerbaijani string instrument) with electronic textures, he creates a sonic landscape that transcends genres.
His critically acclaimed albums viBrant and MughaMix explore the meeting point of folk, electronic, and contemporary classical music, forming a timeless dialogue between past and future.
🏆 Babayev has received numerous international awards:
– 1st prize at the American Protegée International Competition
– Winner of “Sounds of the Motherland” (Tashkent)
– I Del Festival-Concorso Internazionale Delle Arti (2017)
– Selected for the 100 ARTISTS program (Artlink x SüdKulturFonds)
– Exhibited at the Islamic Arts Biennale (Jeddah)
– EU4Culture mobility grant recipient (EU, 2022)
🌍 He has performed across Turkey, Iran, Georgia, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Germany and beyond.
