WIPER lands in Berlin!
On October 4th, WIPER — an independent music magazine bridging sound and image — celebrates its Berlin launch at the iconic 8 mm Bar. Born in Paris, WIPER shines a light on the vibrant alternative scene through offbeat photography, raw interviews, and a bold visual identity. For this special night, we’re teaming up with the Sonic Sisters for an evening that captures the magazine’s spirit: free, hybrid, and wildly alive.

Howlin’ Jaws, the Parisian trio formed by longtime friends Djivan Abkarian (vocals/bass), Lucas Humbert (guitar), and Baptiste Léon (drums), has steadily carved out a name for themselves with their blend of rock’n’roll energy and a love for 60's and 70's textures. Their second album, Half Asleep Half Awake (2023), marked a shift toward more exploratory territory—recorded live at London’s Toe Rag Studios, the record leans into spontaneous takes, layered psychedelia, and analog warmth. With touches of oriental instruments, and swirls of Leslie-treated guitars, it expanded their sound without abandoning their roots. Tracks like “Mirror Mirror” and “See You There” were praised for their dreamlike atmospheres and a subtle, cinematic depth that hinted at the band’s growing confidence and scope.

Sonic Sisters Society is a FLINTA Collective from Berlin, founded in 2024 to unite and empower women in underground music scenes.Currently featuring 11 DJs and mostly focusing on non-techno styles such as psychedelic rock,garage,punk,disco,funk,alternative rock among other varied styles.
