Shemesh – das sind Shahar Abergel und Daniel Schwarzwald, die 2023 das Duo gründeten. Bald stießen Nadav Assaf (Schlagzeug) und Michael Edwards (Bass) zur Band dazu. Mit Shemesh erweitert das Ensemble den musikalischen Horizont: Soul, Neo-Soul, Jazz, Rock und sogar klassische Musik verschmelzen zu einem einzigartigen Klangbild.
Was euch am 18. September erwartet, ist der Kern von Shemesh: ein intimes und zugleich mitreißendes Duo-Konzert mit Daniel und Shahar. Ihre außergewöhnliche musikalische Chemie wurde auf der Debüt-EP Connecting eingefangen, die 2025 schrittweise bei Segal Music erscheint.
Mit besonderer Freude präsentieren sie an diesem Abend ihre zweite Single: „Fred“, eine Komposition von Daniel Schwarzwald, inspiriert von einer der Nocturnes Frédéric Chopins. Durch Shahars meisterhaftes Spiel entfaltet sich die Melodie in epischer, fast filmischer Tiefe.
Aber wer – oder was – ist Fred?
Ein zarter Gruß an Chopins Vornamen, Frédéric?
Das Echo einer rätselhaften, gebrochenen Figur?
Oder ein augenzwinkernder Verweis auf einen anderen Fred – einen legendären Frontmann und Virtuosen einer der ikonischsten britischen Bands?
Vielleicht lüftet sich das Geheimnis am 18. September.

SHEMESH (DUO) – Single Release Concert: “Fred”
Shemesh is the musical collaboration of Shahar Abergel and Daniel Schwarzwald, who founded the duo in 2023. Soon after, Nadav Assaf (drums) and Michael Edwards (bass) joined to complete the band.
Shemesh expands musical boundaries by blending elements of Soul, Neo-Soul, Jazz, Rock, and even classical music into a distinctive sonic identity.
What you’ll experience on September 18th is the essence of Shemesh: a duo performance that is both intimate and powerful, spotlighting the unique chemistry between Daniel and Shahar. This chemistry is captured on their debut EP Connecting, which is being released progressively on Segal Music.
On this special evening, they will celebrate the release of their second single: “Fred”, a composition by Daniel Schwarzwald inspired by one of Chopin’s Nocturnes. With Shahar’s masterful interpretation, the melody unfolds into something epic and cinematic.
But who — or what — is Fred?
A nod to Chopin’s first name, Frédéric?
A whisper of an enigmatic, broken-hearted soul?
Or perhaps a playful clue pointing to another legendary Fred — a virtuosic frontman who led one of the UK’s most iconic bands?
Maybe the answer will be revealed on September 18th.
