Marc Schmolling (SOLO) – Piano
The composer and pianist Marc Schmolling studied jazz piano in Munich and has lived in Berlin since 2006.
So far he has played with notable musicians from the international contemporary jazz and improvisation scene. In 2008 Marc Schmolling won the Jazz Award Berlin. The Marc Schmolling Trio was nominated for their album “Live in Berlin/Vol. 1” (Wizmar Records) for the German Record Critics’ Quarterly Award in 2010. Marc Schmolling's solo debut album "Not So Many Stars" was released in 2016 as the first album for his label "Schmollingstones". His second solo album "Suvenýr" was released in 2020 and landed in the top ten recommendations of the magazine "New York City Jazz Record".
As a composer and arranger, Schmolling often has worked in the vocal range, e.g. for the Chamber Choir of the Danish Radio, the Choir of the Bavarian Radio and the Chorwerk Ruhr. In 2022, the Munich Philharmonic presented the premiere of Schmolling's suite “Excursions” together with works by Steve Reich and John Cage. Schmolling is co-founder of the Jazzkollektiv Berlin, which has been organizing and presenting its “Kollektiv Nights” festival every year since 2008.

Isi Rößler – double bass
Two woodwind instruments and a double bass: Splashing color, intertwining and contrasting. Joining forces and opening up space for soloistic moments: The Trio Schwarz|Viner|Rößler invites the listener to dive into their world of sound, joining them on the journey through a shared evening in improvised music.

Ulrike Schwarz is an improvising musician on alto saxophone and flute. She is classically trained (Folkwang University of the Arts) and incorporates early jazz influences into her playing (Highschool Florida, Youth Jazz Orchestra Baden-Wuerttemberg). She holds a master’s degree in improvisation (University of Music and Theater Leipzig).
Schwarz has been performing her own music as a composer-improviser with a.o. Uwe Oberg (p), Carl Ludwig Hübsch (tuba) and Mariá Portugal (dr). Other current ensembles include USU Sauer|Schwarz|Schiffelholz and Hasan Özgür Tuna Quartet.
She also works in transdisciplinary settings. She’s a member of the artist’s collective PingPengPerformances w/ Silvia Sauer (voc), Birgit Wieder (movement) and Sanja Starkovic (visual arts). Her work as composer-improviser includes music for contemporary theater performances.
Early this year she had premiered her new Trio with Uwe Oberg (p) and Steffen Roth (dr) at Kuehlspot.
JEREMY VINER (b. 1986, Ellsworth, ME) is a Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist, improviser, composer, and educator involved in a wide array of musical idioms. In 2023, after nearly 20 years in New York City, Viner moved to Berlin and continues to play an active role in both the New York and European experimental music scenes. His latest project is the collaborative trio SIFTERS, with Kate Gentile and Marc Ducret. As a saxophonist and clarinetist, Viner has performed internationally with ensembles led by John Hollenbeck, Steve Lehman, Tyshawn Sorey, Anna Webber, Kate Gentile, Rafiq Bhatia, and many others. Viner is a member of the genre-bending tenor saxophone quartet Battle Trance and the chamber minimalist ensemble Bing & Ruth, two of his longest-running musical collaborations. Jeremy Viner is a Vandoren Artist.
Isabel Rößler is a jazz bassist and improviser. After studying music in Nuremberg and Tallinn, she moved to Berlin in 2019, where she is active in the city’s fluid improvisation scene. In addition to numerous collaborations with local and international artists, she has toured through Germany and Eastern Europe with her trio «Flut». Beyond purely musical creation, she collaborated with artists from the fields of poetry/language, object theater, dance/performance, fine art and stage visuals, among others. Other current projects in which she is involved include: OBSiDiAN, Rupp/Rößler/Hall, Trespassing Rooms, SORBD, Brad Henkel Quartet, Red Color Trio, The Omniversal Earkestra.
