ReWiring the Ensemble
The morning sessions will source Nina Martin's ReWire – Movement States and Steve Paxton’s Material for the Spine to awaken the solo body. Focusing on the spectrum of preconscious and conscious movements, we will “dance in the gap” to articulate clear physical communication and compositional approaches within contact improvisation.
The afternoon sessions will focus on Ensemble Thinking, a system of improvisational compositional group scores that increase capacity for collaborative instant creation. Dancers will explore Ensemble Thinking's principal scores to tune and refine the individual’s ability to perceive, initiate, and support collective action.
