The exhibition Mehr Licht at KORNFELD Galerie Berlin presents new oil paintings, watercolors, and a light installation by Christopher Lehmpfuhl. The Berlin-based artist draws inspiration from his immediate surroundings – from the light, the places, and the stories they tell.
Lehmpfuhl paints outdoors, on-site, using his bare hands. With expressive, vigorous movements, he applies thick layers of paint, creating powerful and vibrant images. His works capture light and atmosphere in a unique way – at times radiantly bright, at other times shimmering with mystery.
At the heart of the exhibition is Last Supper, a large-scale glass painting being shown in Berlin for the first time. Presented as a contemporary light object, it is accompanied by 13 hand-painted plates, alluding to both the biblical theme and the cyclical rhythm of the seasons.
Mehr Licht invites viewers to reconsider tradition – not as something fixed, but as something to be seen, felt, and continually rediscovered.
