“DANCE as a form of PLAY”
BERLIN WORKSHOP & JAM
May 31 - 1 June
Contact Impro Tango, Tai chi, Fusion, biomechanics and somatic elements
Why is it evolutionary important to keep on playing even through adulthood?
Play is essential for our creativity: it allows us to remain adaptable to life’s continuous changes, finding new solutions.
Play is a way to keep our brain’s long term plasticity through continuous learning.
Play is an embodied experience of joy, essential for our happiness. And becomes a healthy booster that cuts across many domains of life.
Play is essential to develop and maintain healthy relations.
Play allows us to take social risks. It develops trust by sharing our vulnerabilities.
In this workshop, we will play into dance, and dance into play.
Through play and games we will approach the structures underlying Contact Impro and Tango, with the intention to develop a unique and personal mix.
We will also use elements of tai chi, fusion dance, biomechanics and somatic to experience a movement diversity that is vital for our well-being.
This open combination, boundless of a given style, developed in a joyful environment, provides the possibility to deepen the understanding of ourselves and our physical, emotional relation with society and Nature.
