BrisLETS is part of a global movement for people-powered economies.
LETS stands for Local Energy Trading System—a community-based network where members offer and receive goods and services using “units” instead of cash.
Units are earned when someone uses your offer and spent when you use someone else’s—just like cash, but within a supportive, values-driven network.
BrisLETS is the Brisbane exchange on the CES (Community Exchange System) platform and is listed as BLCE.
Through CES, members can connect not only locally across Brisbane, but also Australia-wide and internationally, opening up opportunities to trade with people in other cities, towns, and even countries—online or in person.
You might offer gardening, tutoring, preserves, clothes, IT help, or a spare room—and use your units for something meaningful in return.
This month marks our 37th AGM, reflecting decades of grassroots resilience and connection in Brisbane. Whether you’ve been trading recently or just curious, you’re welcome to join.
