The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes, our selection for discussion on June 12th is bound to be lively. This work of historical fiction takes place in Kentucky, during the depression. The novel revolves around a group of women who shatter the gender role norms of the day while carrying out the work of The Pack Horse Library Project, a Works Progress Administration (WPA) program that delivered books to remote regions in the Appalachian Mountains. Join us to celebrate the original “book mobiles”, the horse-riding librarians dedicated to improving public literacy in rural America.
