Cozy winter crafts that spark creativity and support calm—after school!
Join The Mindfulness Movement at Island Lake Elementary for a special winter edition of Make & Take: Calming Creations, a 3-week after-school enrichment program designed to support students in grades 1–5 with mindful art, sensory play, and emotional regulation tools they can take home.
Each week features a seasonal hands-on project to make and take, helping kids unwind and express themselves through creativity:
❄️ Week 1: Falling Snow Sensory Bottles
Swirl your own snow scene in a calming sensory bottle.
✨ Week 2: Snowflake Slime
Stretch, sparkle, and soothe with this frosty sensory favorite.
🍪 Week 3: Gingerbread Play Dough
Sculpt with soft, spiced dough that smells like holiday cheer.
Led by licensed teacher Tara Willits, this peaceful and playful series gives students space to relax, connect, and build their emotional wellness toolkit.
