Kelsey. Period. Ann Arbor singer, bassist, and songwriter Kelsey Detering blends melodic pop hooks, organic rock instrumentation, and a new wave sound with personal and introspective lyrics from the subconscious mind. Powered by fast and slow bass-driven grooves, she offers something raw and real, and connects with listeners through the power of music.
Her debut single, “Throw the Stone,” is a retro throwback to a time wherein organic rhythm sections drove disco beats. It highlights her bass playing, features a catchy hook with complex instrumentation, and employs high quality production. Her follow-up single, “Tempest,” is a nod to 80’s synthpop and new wave sounds, while maintaining an organic rhythm section. The lyrics dig deep into the pain of instability, and moody chords set the atmosphere.
Her upcoming single, “Wasted,” set to release July 11, is the first track off of and a preview of her upcoming debut LP.
