2025 Boone County Senior Salute

The BCSS (Boone County Senior Salute) will honor 2025 Boone County Indiana high school graduates who have chosen to serve their country at the 4th Annual Senior Salute on Sunday, May 18, 1:00-3:00 PM at the American Legion Post 79 in Zionsville.

“Our mission is to recognize the courage and commitment of high school graduates committed to serve our country” says Matt Weinheimer, BCSS Board Chair and US Navy veteran. Dr. Weinheimer was inspired by a similar program years ago in his hometown of Sullivan, Indiana. Weinheimer, started this organization along with Dr. Jim Haines, founder Zionsville Eyecare and also a US Navy veteran.

Tim Ottinger with the BCSS adds, “The U.S. military is in a recruiting crisis. The Army and Navy have not met their recruiting goals in the last two years. At the end of WW II, the American military had 12 million active duty members. It now has 1.3 million”. Dr. Haines adds “Students who become accomplished in their careers as doctors, lawyers, engineersand sports stars are celebrated, yet who have stepped up to serve our country are not ”.

Deadline for submission is Friday April 25, 2025.

The luncheon and ceremony is open to the public. Tickets are $25 and available now at the Zionsville Legion, Zionsville Eyecare or online at seniorsalute.eventbrite.com NOTE: Honorees, their immediate families and grandparents are welcome at no charge.
