The summer reading race is open to all ages; only ages 19 and under will be put on the reading race wall.
Each participant needs their own library card in their name or Student access ID.
For ages 19 and under: bring your reading log with you every time you visit the library.
The race begins on May 23 at 8:30am and ends Aug 2 at NOON.
Ages 19 and under: if you do not turn in a completed log by the end of the race, your prize position is estimated based upon the receipt copies kept by the staff.
Prize Bags will FIRST become available at the Finale Party on Thursday August 7.
All prize bags need to be picked up at the latest by Friday August 15 at 1:00pm.
Adult participants are entered to win a prize, with each individual checked-out reading item (book, audiobook, or magazine) in adult fiction or nonfiction in digital or print counted as an entry. Adults visiting multiple libraries need to retain their checkout receipts to bring to our branch upon their next visit; and for digital, tell us the number you read or listened to (Libby, Hoopla, NC Live Homegrown, or Kindle).
For ages 19 and under, the race standings are calculated based on public library receipts (bring receipts from any other library to add to your folder at the circulation desk; must be dated during the contest period), bonus learning minutes for programs attended (must be initialed by staff at event; 60 minutes per program from May-July), and minutes read. If you don’t turn in your log, your minutes read will be based upon your last library visit before the deadline.
