Katie Flinn, founder of Milk & Honey Orchard and Apiary near Indianola, Iowa, is a passionate honey expert. Her fascination with honey began during her Air Force career, where she collected jars from around the globe, each reflecting its local terroir. After completing the Air Force culinary arts program, Katie deepened her expertise by enrolling in Italy’s prestigious Honey Sensory Education program, visiting the country three times a year for continued study.
Now pursuing a PhD in Gastronomy with a focus on food anthropology and honey culture at Boston University, Katie has become Iowa’s only certified Honey Sommelier. She specializes in identifying the botanicals behind each honey’s unique flavor profile and is dedicated to helping veterans with PTSD through apitherapy, an alternative therapy using bees and their products.
While we do not provide alcohol, you are welcome to bring your own beverages to enjoy. Suggested wine pairings will be shared with you prior to the dinner.
