Hello all, and Happy Summer!
Our June meeting will be THIS Wednesday, June 18th. We will not feature
a demonstration this month. Instead we'll have a wood/tool/whatever
auction with the proceeds benefiting the club. Our talented and (nearly)
world-famous Leon Lowell will be our auctioneer and be doing his best to
get you to spend your last dollar. Be sure to scout your shop for
unused tools, wood blanks, or whatever else you have that somebody else
could use! This is a great chance to clean out your shop. You might be
able to see your bench top again and help the club out at the same
time. Get a box and get started!
We'll meet in the usual multi-purpose room at Erskine Academy. The
address is 309 Windsor Rd, South China, however the access is off the
Arnold Road. The multi-purpose room is at the west end of the building,
facing the parking lot and track. The meeting will start at 7:00,
however show-and-tell setup and socializing begins around 6:30.
Don't forget to bring show and tell pieces (and a check/cash)!
My apologies for the rather late meeting announcement. Just returned
from traveling to visit family and to attend the 2025 AAW Symposium in
St. Paul. For those of you who haven't attended a woodturning
symposium, I strongly encourage you to give it a try. Not only can you
learn some new techniques at demos, but you can also discover and grow
from the tremendous community and camaraderie within the woodturning
world. There are also many regional symposiums to choose from, with the
nearest being Totally Turning held in Saratoga Springs, New York,
usually in March. There are also virtual symposiums available if you
don't want to travel. Give one a try!
This will be our last meeting before our summer break. Meetings resume
on August 30, when we'll have a day-long demonstration with Graeme
Priddle and Melissa Engler. Mark your calendar! I talked with them in
St. Paul and they're very excited about their Maine visit. If you're
not familiar with Graeme and Melissa, you'll really enjoy the results of
your Google search!
