Bird Banding Demonstration at Foothills Land Conservancy Trails

Bird banding is a vital research tool that helps ornithologists collect essential data about bird behavior, lifespan, and habitat use. This event offers a rare opportunity to see how birds are safely captured, banded, and released — all under the guidance of trained professionals.

✅ All necessary permits and permissions have been obtained, and the demonstration will be conducted ethically and responsibly with the birds’ well-being as our top priority.

This event is free and open to the public. If weather conditions prevent bird banding but aren’t severe, we’ll enjoy a guided bird walk instead.

*Note, the Foothills Land Conservancy Trails is currently not accessible from the east on Route 156 (Weld Road). The bridge at the very east end of Pond Road is being rebuilt and the road is closed. Travel west on Route 2 past downtown Wilton and turn right onto Pond Road. Travel about 1.6 miles on Pond Road to the parking lot.
