The Kalmar Nyckel Foundation is seeking volunteers for their Captain Kidd's Pirate Day. Scouts looking to earn community service hours towards advancements can help support this event that seeks to educate community youth. Multiple youth fourteen and older can volunteer with adult supervision. Great for troop volunteer service.
There are two volunteer shifts to choose from, 11:00am-2:30pm and 2:15pm-5:00pm.
Roles:
Build-A-Boat Attendant - Help participants build toy boats under awning.
Coloring Assistant - Help participants color and create flags with historical inspiration.
Decorating Treasure Chest Assistant - Decorate a chest to hide treasure!
Watercraft of the World Scavenger Hunt Attendant - give participants one of the scavenger hunts and help them if they have questions. Make sure visitors know where each scavenger hunt relates to. In addition, help with the treasure hunt, as there are answers in that room.
Treasure Hunt Attendant - Put riddles in their proper place and explain the hunt.
Parking Crew: Help participants find where to park their car.
Attendee Counter: Use a clicker to help the staff track how many people enter.
All new event volunteers will be paired with experienced KNF volunteers who can catch them up to speed and make sure they are familiar with their role. We also provide detailed instructions and brief tutorials on the day of the event about how to fulfill roles effectively.
