Step back in time and discover the magic of a 19th-century photographic process that still captivates artists and scientists alike. In this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop, presenter Leah Gose will guide you through the fascinating world of cyanotypes—a historic alternative photography method that transforms sunlight and simple materials into vivid blue works of art.

Invented in 1841 by scientist Sir John Herschel and later popularized by botanist and photographer Anna Atkins, cyanotypes beautifully blend science, creativity, and nature. You’ll learn how to compose with found objects and transparencies, expose your designs to light, experiment with layering techniques, and create striking Prussian blue prints that are truly one-of-a-kind.

Feel free to bring your own materials—like leaves, lace, or personal items—to customize your creations!

This event is 21+, and tickets are $25 for non-members and $20 for River Bend members. Wine, beer, and hors d’oeuvres are included to make the evening even more enjoyable.
