Meet the demonstrator:
Owen Riedesel is from Weaverville, NC and was introduced to crafting at an early age through clay and wood carving. He began blacksmithing at the age of 13 at Boy Scout camp and soon became immersed in the metal arts through classes at various craft schools and attending local, regional, and national events ABANA. He is a member of the Appalachian Area, North Carolina, and Phillip Simmons Artist Blacksmith Guild and considers the State of Franklin Guild his home community forge. He has demonstrated at many events including SBA Conference and Alabama Forge Council Conference. His work ranges from smaller utilitarian forgings, hammers, knives, axes, and tooling to large scale architectural forgings. As a recent graduate of the American College of the Building Arts he is entering the field as a journeying blacksmith and seeking out unique opportunities to grow, collaborate, and contribute to the craft.
