Exploring effective strategies and routines to support literacy development for AAC users across the lifespan, emphasizing reading and writing through interactive and engaging approaches.
Ashley is a licensed pediatric speech-language pathologist, clinical educator, and international speaker. She has extensive experience in supporting children and young adults who use Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC).
In addition to AAC, Ashley is an advocate for high-quality literacy instruction for all learners. Ashley has authored articles, spoken on various podcasts, and provided professional development to support stakeholders in their work to support AAC users.
Ashley's practice provides direct therapy, consulting, and coaching to learners and educators throughout the Chicagoland area and across the United States.
Lauren is a special education teacher, adjunct faculty member, assistive technology professional, education advocate, and independent consultant dedicated to enhancing educational outcomes for diverse learners. An experienced and forward-thinking educator, she specializes in designing tailored instructional approaches and integrating assistive technology to optimize student engagement and success.
Lauren has presented at state, national, and international conferences, including Closing the Gap, ATIA, AAC in the Cloud, Infinitec, and ISAAC, sharing knowledge on AAC, literacy, accessibility, and parent and caregiver supports. She has also contributed to numerous webinars, providing insight on the intersecting between literacy and AAC. In addition to being a guest on podcast series, she has co-authored publications in Closing The Gap Solutions magazine. In 2023, Lauren was honored as a finalist for the Illinois State University Teacher of the Year award.
Committed to fostering inclusive learning environments, she collaborates with educators, families, and stakeholders to support best practices in education.
