Neeka and the Storm - Workshop with Tina Strachan

Join us for a workshop in celebration of book 2 in the Wilder Zoo series, Neeka and the Storm! Tina Strachan will guide kids through a Wilder Zoo Crew workshop, where the kids will get to colour in their own Wilder Zoo name badges, help perform a ‘vet exam’ on a ‘rescued’ animal, and learn who eats what food (and who does what poo!). Tina will then test their zookeeper abilities with wildlife themed trivia, bingo and an animal sounds game, and finish off with a little craft activity. All participants will go home with a certificate to say they graduated as a Wilder Zoo Crew member!

About the author:

Tina Strachan is the author of Neeka and the Missing Key, Book 1 of the Wilder Zoo series. Book 2 in the series, Neeka and the Storm, will be released in July 2025. Aside from writing stories, something Tina has enjoyed from a very young age, Tina is passionate about wildlife conservation and has worked and studied wildlife conservation for twenty years, including as a zookeeper, vet nurse and field researcher. Her experiences have inspired the adventures of Neeka Wilder in her debut middle grade series, Wilder Zoo. Tina is also the co-host of ‘The Book Deal’ podcast, chatting with seasoned and debut writers about their journey to publication, providing inspiration and motivation for aspiring authors.

About the book:

Eleven-year-old Neeka Wilder has always loved animals and is lucky enough to live at Wilder Zoo, where her mum is head vet. The deadline for the school reading challenge is only a few days away and Neeka has a lot of reading to do. Then a wild storm hits. Emergency evacuation plans are put in place and even Neeka's bedroom turns into an animal nursery. But when the rain stops and the clean-up begins, focusing on reading becomes Neeka's biggest challenge.
