Introductory River Float

REGISTRATION REQUIRED!
On Friday, June 13th the Boathouse in Raccoon River Park will offer an introductory float trip to celebrate the launch of our new Raccoon River Rental & Shuttle Service. If the timing works out, at the conclusion of the float, you’ll be able to join the City of West Des Moines and ICON in their celebration of the opening of the new boat ramp at SW 63rd Street.

This trip will start at 1:30 pm from the Raccoon River Park Boathouse beach. You’ll paddle as a group led by staff from the boathouse to the portage in the southwest corner of the lake. After carrying boats to the river over the portage trail, you’ll relaunch from the sandbar on the river and float the two miles to the new boat ramp immediately upriver from the SW 63rd Street bridge.

Our price for this trip will include paddles, lifejackets, your choice of watercraft, and a shuttle back to the Boathouse in Raccoon River Park. Participation will be limited to 12 people. The price to float in a single kayak will be $20, a double kayak will be $30, and a canoe will be $30.

We will offer a second shuttle for individuals who paddle the river in their own canoes or kayaks. This shuttle will take place after participants of our trip have been returned to Raccoon River Park. Space in the shuttle van will be limited to 12 people. The cost for the shuttle only will be $12 for each person and $10 for each boat. Please reserve your spot.

Everyone needs to arrive early in order to complete the necessary Waiver of Liability and Risk Acknowledgement and a Shuttle Agreement & Waiver must also be signed by those who wish to have us shuttle them and/or their boat back to Raccoon River Park.
