FRIDAY FRIDAY FRIDAY! For the first time ever, Columbia Kings n' Things and Crown Kings of Charlotte are having a newcomer lip sync competition! Birds of Slay competitors, past and present, drag boot camp survivors, and anyone of any type of drag performer interested in gaining competitive drag experience are welcome to sign up for this one-night-only smackdown extravaganza. Through the process of competitive lip syncing, you'll gain the chance to grow as a performer and challenge yourself in a way most competitions don't include.
How does it work?
1. You sign up at linktr.ee/colakingsnthings
2. CKnT provides you with a list of songs that could potentially be played.
3. You bring your drag, your moves, and your knowledge of the words (we hope).
4. CKnT creates a bracket of competitors and randomly assigns each bracket a song to perform. Unlike most competitions, you do not get to choose your songs! The songs on the playlist will be kept to well-known songs to minimize the amount you'll have to learn on the fly.
5. You win your match-up, you advance to the next round. You lose, you still have a chance to win the consolation bracket.
6. CKnT and CKoC reserve the right to throw curveballs, wrenches, and change-ups into the game at any time.
7. Winner of the night gets bookings with both groups AND a spot in the Birds of Slay finale.
The competition will start at 11pm at New Brookland Tavern on Friday, June 13, after the Pride-Day the 13th pre-game at the Hoot.
