The Phantom of the Kitchen is a fast-paced, comedic stage play that follows a recently divorced mom, Sarah, and her two teenage children, Alex and Jessie, as they move into a suspiciously affordable, outdated house. The siblings couldnβt be more differentβAlex is a preppy overachiever, while Jessie is a sarcastic gothβbut both are thrown together to uncover a mystery when they realize their new home is haunted by a dramatic ghost. The ghost, Margot Sinclair, was a passionate (but overlooked) community theatre actress who now haunts the house in a rotating cast of characters. Her flair for the theatrical is matched only by her commitment to method actingβ¦ even in death. As Alex and Jessie dig into the mystery, they discover a strange connection between Margot and their creepy neighbor, Mr. Grimble, a handyman. Their investigation reveals that Grimble may have had something to do with her untimely death.
The play is a blend of family comedy, ghost story parody, and lighthearted mystery. At its core, itβs a story about grief, second chances, and the power of stepping into your own spotlightβdead or alive.
The show will run July 31-August 3 and August 7-10 at the Voyager Village Events Center.
Ages 13+ for some adult themes.
