Childgrove English Country Dance

If you are new to English Country dancing or have limited experience, we offer an introductory lesson around 6:40 pm. Come and find out what the caller means when using the terms such as up the hall, down the hall, partner, neighbor, corner, first couple, second couple, first corners, and second corners. Practice the basic steps such as circle left, circle right, right hand star, left hand star, two hand turn, the setting step, and set and turn single. I remember when I first started dancing English, it seemed confusing, but it made sense the more I danced.

All dances are taught prior to dancing with music, and the caller continues to call until the dancers seem comfortable with the moves.

No partner is necessary. Partnering up with one of our many experienced dancers is helpful.

Dress comfortably.

This month our caller is Nicholas Rockstroh from Louisville, KY. He is a wonderful young caller and has many years of experience. Expect fun and engaging dances.

Ragged Robin - Martha Edwards and Bill Boyer - provide the lovely music.
