About this Event

Great opportunity to take a film and acting workshop.

Room number: 401-G Conference Room (MLK Library - 4th floor - take elevator up)

First timers and all levels are welcome to attend and participate.

  • Itinerary: warmups, monologues, acting scenes, business side of acting, cooldown.

This is an authentic T.V. and Film acting workshop. If you have never been to an acting class, this will be a great introduction. If you have been to an acting class before, this acting class will be a great space for you to sharpen up your acting skills.

We will do warm up exercises at the beginning of class, which is typical for acting classes. So please be sure to arrive early to find parking and/or locate the room inside MLK Library. After warm-up exercises, I will discuss some important aspects of acting for T.V. and Film.

You will perform scenes from selected T.V. and Film scripts, and I will give feedback to the actors after each performance.

There is no pressure to participate in acting scenes, feel free to simply sit in the class and observe if you prefer. However, we do encourage everyone to participate in an acting scene. Yet again, there is no pressure to participate.

Note: (this is optional) Please prepare a monologue to perform in front of the workshop group. The monologue should be 1 minute to 2 minutes in length. No pressure to have a prepared monologue, this is optional. However, it is a great opportunity to demonstrate your acting range.

If you are not familiar with a monologue, please google it or find examples on YouTube.

We will also talk about getting into character, the importance of reactionary facial expressions or having a reaction, the power of silent moments in T.V. and Film.

We will talk about the business-side of T.V. and Film too such as getting headshots, finding an agent and going out on auditions.

I look forward to meeting everybody and getting you one step closer to acting on T.V. and Film.

Great opportunity to be around like-minded people with similar interests.

This acting class is a safe space and welcoming environment.
