⚓️❤️ Sails of Affection: A Lake Mac Love Loop – Saturday from 10am September 13th (and 14th for those camping)
Ahoy, friends and fellow raiders!
This one’s for the partners and best mates who put up with our salty obsession, the ones who wave us off with a smile, sometimes sail with us, sometimes shake their heads, and always keep the wind in our hearts.
Join us for a special “Significant Others Sail” on Saturday, September 13th – a beautiful half-day to ¾ day sail from Styles Point to Toronto Jetty, with lunch, laughter and lake views. Bring the love of your life — be they wife, husband, best mate, minister, master or mystery person — and let them see why you disappear with your sails on weekends. For those 'singles' bring a great friend along.
🧭 Event Plan:
• Arrive: 10:00am – Styles Point Reserve, Rathmines (pop Overhill Road into your GPS)
• Rig & Launch: Take your time, make it elegant or chaotic. *Sailing by 11:30.
• Sail North to Toronto – gentle cruising pace. No hurry.
• Tie Up at Toronto Jetty – stop for lunch and coffee/tea together.
• Return to Styles Point in the afternoon (~3pm-ish)
• Drop anchor, hugs goodbye to our beloveds…
But wait… there’s more wind in the weekend! Stay for the 14th.
After your better halves have been lovingly returned to land, the RAIDers are welcome to camp overnight at Styles Point, share a fireside yarn, and prep for a Sunday sail session (weather & breakfast permitting).
This event is about:
• Celebrating the ones we love
• Introducing our partners to the sailing life
• Letting our significant others meet and mingle
• And yes, making sure they know just how much we appreciate their support (and tolerance!)
👥 All Welcome:
This raid is fully inclusive of all partnerships — husbands, wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, long-time lovers, new flings, soulmates, or just a good mate who helped sand your rudder last month.
Parter not into sailing? That's cool. Invite them to meet us at Toronto Wharf about 12:30 to 1pm and join us for lunch and a beverage.
⸻
🧺 What to Bring:
• Your favourite picnic or café money
• Your significant human
• A smile, hat, and sunscreen
• Optional overnight camping gear if you’re staying
• A willingness to raft up with love and not too much tiller envy
⸻
Let us know if you’re attending, bringing someone special, or if you’ll be staying overnight.
Drop anchor, not expectations.
Let’s make this a lake memory to treasure.
* This even is weather dependent. The alternate weekend will be the weekend of the 27th and 28th.
** As always, Skippers are responsible for the vessels and crew. Event organisers do not accept any liability for damage or injury.
Full credit given, this event is Brad Kershaws idea which I think is fantastic.
