Dawn Chorus Walk – Coalface to Wildspace, Midlands

Join Froglife and Glenn Powell from The Conservation Volunteers at Reedswood Park on Sunday the 11th of May at 5am, to experience the dawn chorus!

The dawn chorus is when our songbirds sing together as the day begins to break in spring. All different species of birds will join in and add their unique song to the mix, creating a sensational sensory experience to start to the day.

The walk will start from our spectacular speaking sculpture before we are led around the park by the skilled and experienced bird watcher, Glenn Powell. He will guide us through the different bird calls we hear, so that we can identify the individuals making up the chorus. It will be a wonderful opportunity to get to know the local bird species that call the park home and to practise some bird identification skills. The walk will last up to 2 hours, but you are welcome to stay for as long or as little as you wish.

We will be meeting at the Bentley Lane entrance opposite the Alma Inn, WS2 8SP. Street parking can be found nearby. We recommend wearing sturdy footwear and bringing a light source, as this walk starts during low light.

This event forms part of the Speaking Sculptures Celebration Festival series of activities to celebrate nature and wildlife. The sculptures have been created by local people and installed in 8 greenspaces across Walsall as part of the Coalface to Wildspace Midlands project, made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
