Join us on a 2–2.5 mile hike of the Black Run Preserve which blends nature with local history. While the preserve today is a quiet refuge of forests and wetlands, its landscape holds stories of cultural diversity, early settlement, and agricultural and residential development. Join our Ambassador and Trustee Emeritus John Volpa as he shares his insights into this history, connecting the dots between the natural environment and human impact over the centuries. Along the way, hikers get a firsthand view of how the ecosystem has rebounded and evolved. It’s not just a walk through nature—it’s a walk back in time. Our trails have hard and soft sand, slight elevations, roots, and stumps and some wet areas. Porta Potty is available at the beginning and end of hike.
