Please join us in welcoming the "Pajo Kolaric" Junior Tambura Orchestra from Osijek, Croatia to Youngstown, Ohio. This tambura orchestra will be making a stop in Youngstown, known for its deep Croatian roots and hospitality, during their US tour. This ensemble will be traveling to the US for the CFU Junior Festival being held in Pittsburgh, PA where they will perform 2 short shows.
Youngstown, OH will be 1 of 2 full concert-length performances, with the other in Milwaukee, WI. This group of around 40 young adults is bound to impress with their amazing musical talent.

STD "Pajo Kolarić" - biography Our Osijek is a city of distinguished past in which have streamed numerous paths of European culture , and is recognizable by a prominent composer PAULUS PAJO KOLARIĆ. Our tamburitza association is named after Paulus Kolarić and it occupies a prominent place in the historical development of the Croatian tamburitza music. Slavonian tamburitza Association "Pajo Kolarić" from Osijek was founded in 1954 and in all that time, successfully operates in the development and preservation of tamburitza music. The association is the founder of: The Croatian Union of tamburitza music (HTS) and The International Festival of Artistic Tamburitza music (MFUTG). In these seven decades of the associations existence, over 2,000 musicians have learned to play tamburitza, some of whom have occupied a prominent place in the tamburitza music. Today, there are more than a hundred young people who learn and nurture the well-known art music in the association. Companies actions have taken a special place in the tamburitza music at home and abroad, thanks to the numerous guest appearances in the countries of Europe, Canada and the United States, where the exceptional results have been achieved, winning numerous awards and recognitions. Slavonian tamburitza Association "Pajo Kolarić" from Osijek currently operates in four groups: Tamburitza School, Junior Tambura Orchestra, Senior Tambura Orchestra and a female vocal group "Šokadija". Conductors: Dragutin Stivaničević, Marko Sesar and Miloš Grubić President of the society: Denis Škugor The Junior Orchestra of the Slavonian Tamburitza Society "Pajo Kolarić" is one of the four active ensembles of the association and currently has more than 40 active tamburitza players. The orchestra regularly performs at events such as Pajino Sijelo, the Annual Concert of the Slavonian Tamburitza Society "Pajo Kolarić", and consistently achieves better results each year at the International Festival of Artistic Tamburitza Music in Osijek. At last year’s festival, they were awarded the Gold Plaque! The orchestra actively participates in cultural events throughout the city of Osijek, including the traditional Christmas and New Year concert. In May 2019, the Junior Orchestra represented Croatia at the 67th European Youth Music Festival in Neerpelt, Belgium, among a hundred orchestras from all over the world. At this prestigious competition, the Junior Orchestra achieved a remarkable result, winning the First Prize with Distinction – 1st Prize CUM LAUDE. The orchestra repeated this success in May 2023 at the 71st European Youth Music Festival in Neerpelt, again winning the First Prize with Distinction – 1st Prize CUM LAUDE. At the end of June 2024, the Junior Orchestra took part in the “Tamburitza Through Generations” festival held at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb, organized by the Croatian Fraternal Union from the USA. The festival gathered more than 900 performers of all ages from the United States, and the Junior Orchestra of Pajo Kolarić was one of the few orchestras from Croatia invited to participate. Conductor of the junior orchestra is Miloš Grubić. Around 30 members of the Junior Orchestra will be traveling to the United States this summer. The youngest member is 12 years old, while the oldest is 30, with most of the ensemble made up of young adults aged 24 or 25. They will be accompanied by members of the governing board and their partners, bringing the total group to 50 people.
