Garden Projects

Hello Gardeners and volunteers,

We have been making a lot of progress around the garden with maintenance and improvements. Vivian, our part time intern, and our volunteers have put in some incredible work with fixing the wall blocks so that they are not a hazard. We are moving on to getting all the walk ways mulched and some repairs to the food pantry plot. Vivian will be at the garden this Thursday and Friday weather permitting from 3 pm to 7 pm as needed to work on projects. If you can volunteer please join her and lend a hand.

We can also use help weeding the raspberries at the food pantry plot. Last year some field bind W**d smothered them before they were able to fruit. It has returned and threatens them again this year! Field bind W**d is a perennial. It can have deep roots that are delicate but can grow back from any fragments of roots or stems left behind. It can grow rapidly and smother other plants with in a few days. Make sure to remove all parts of the plant and get it to the yard waste bin.
