CRUDA SORTE MIA: MUSIC IN NAPLES AT THE TIME OF GESUALDO
This program is dedicated to the controversial and fascinating Prince Carlo Gesualdo da Venosa, a Neapolitan noble who lived between the 16th and 17th century. His tragic life is reflected in his music, simultaneously unexpected, heartbreaking, modern, and sublime. Three singers and a consort of viola da gambas will perform music by Gesualdo and other Neapolitan composers, from sacred to secular, and heavenly to shadowed.
