La GOM Giovane Orchestra Metropolitana è stata fondata nel 2015 da Associazione Amici della Musica di Mestre Onlus, Comune di Venezia ed Ufficio Scolastico territoriale di Venezia - Rete delle Scuole ad Indirizzo Musicale della Città Metropolitana di Venezia.
Pierluigi Piran è direttore musicale e artistico della GOM fin dalla fondazione.

È formata da 84 studenti che frequentano prevalentemente scuole secondarie di primo e secondo grado del territorio della Città Metropolitana di Venezia.
