Join us for a two-part pottery workshop with artist and instructor Beth Roy, where you'll learn the steps necessary to create your very own teapot set on the wheel!
Dates & Times:
Wednesday, July 16 | 6:00 – 9:00
Saturday, July 19 | 10:00 – 1:00
In this hands-on class, you will craft a large teapot and a small cream and sugar set. You'll dive into essential techniques including:
Designing functional forms
Throwing lids and spouts off the hump
Creating precise gallery and flange for fitting lids
Trimming pots and lids
Attaching spouts and handles with intention and style
This intermediate-level class is ideal for students who are comfortable centering up to 5 pounds of clay, opening, and pulling up a wall evenly on the wheel.
Beth will finish your pieces by glazing them in your choice of five beautiful glaze options.
Come shape, explore, and sip some inspiration as you handcraft a tea set to enjoy for years to come!
Prepare for Class!
Dress comfortably and casually as pottery throwing tends to be a messy endeavor. Bring an apron if you'd like to wear one but the clay washes out of clothes beautifully!
Remove bracelets and rings, tie up long hair and trim your fingernails before class. While short nails aren't required, we find that it's a bit easier to throw pottery with them.
To allow the most individualized attention possible, class size is limited to 6 students, 1 per wheel.
But I Want More!
Two of the most common things that we hear at the end of a wheel throwing class are, "I was just getting the hang of it!" and "I don't want to stop throwing!", and we love this enthusiasm!
We have several solutions for this:
Enroll in another session with Beth to build on your newly established skills.
Enroll in Beth's Novice Class where she takes you through the process throwing to glaze and firing. To maximize your chances for success, we recommend that you previously attended at least two beginner classes
Apply for a Pottery Membership at ARTworks Vass.
