Get festive in July with artist Kathy Downs in this fun kid's fused glass workshop on Saturday, July 19th from 9:30-11:00! Perfect for kids, this hands-on class invites them to design and decorate one Christmas Tree ornament / sun catcher using a variety of colorful, 96 COE glass elements.
Each participant will receive one pre-cut glass Christmas tree shape to decorate using an assortment of shimmering glass materials—pebbles, dots, stringers, noodles, murrini, millefiori, and more—all in special holiday and winter-themed colors.
Kathy will fire your child's masterpiece in her kiln and the finished ornament / sun catcher will be ready for pickup in about two weeks. Kathy will contact you when ready.
All materials, tool use, instruction, and one kiln firing included for $25.

Kathy Downs discovered her passion for glass art in 2011 when she and her family moved to the Quantico, VA area. Initially her small glass pieces were unique gifts for family and friends but as her collection and skills grew, she started selling her glass to fund her "glass" habit! She now creates both large and small fused glass in her home-based studio and with 38 years of eduction experience, she is excited to teach and mentor aspiring glass artists through her fused glass classes at ARTworks Vass!
Important Information:
Beginners are welcome.
School Aged Children, rising 2nd through 8th graders.
Younger children may attend with an adult who also registers for a seat in class to make along side them.
Adults are not permitted to register as a student in this class unless registering and attending with the child or children. (Grab your favorite kiddo and join us!)
For the safety of all involved, we require that Children be dropped-off and picked-up with their instructor in the classroom. Street or parking lot pickups are not permitted.
Children may bring a snack and a drink with a lid to class.
Registration allows for one Guest per class project.
Only Registered Guests may attend class.
Registrations are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
Class starts promptly on time.
Dress to mess or bring an apron.
You will be notified when your project is ready to pick up. We will hold it for 90 days with monthly notifications by text or phone. If you haven't requested an extension or picked up your work within 90 days, your project will be disposed of at the gallery's discretion.
