You are invited to Sister Grove Farm for a Potluck Community Meal to greet the season of Summer and discuss an important topic - WATER!!!
We will Learn - together.
We are delighted to introduce to you our dear friend, Melanie Ferguson, who will lead us in a conversation on "The Movement of Texas Water: Clouds, Faucets and Riverbeds."
As a founding board member of Dallas Water Commons and a true water champion, Melanie will educate, encourage, and inspire us on ways that we can work together on creative and bipartisan solutions of resilience and beauty.
We will Eat - together.
Sister Grove Farm will provide the main course as Farmer Rodney becomes Chef Rodney with home-made chicken pot pie from Sister Grove pasture-raised chicken.
We hope that you might bring a side dish, dessert, and/or a beverage of choice (alcoholic or otherwise) to add to the community table.
We will Attend to the Season - together.
The cycles of the year orient us on the farm as they have peoples in all places over all time.
“As the intense upward springtime growth of leaves and flowers begin to subside, and pollination has taken place, the first fruits appear. As the fruit begins its ripening process, we are called to acknowledge what a generous gift this is from Earth.
We are also awakened to the rhythmic cycle of life, death and rebirth. Without fruiting we would have no true food.
Without true food we would have no true seed.
Without true seed, this precious cycle would be broken, and it is upon this cycle that all life depends.”
