Join us for an afternoon of live music as the Northwest Indiana Rusty Strings Orchestra performs at Pines Village Retirement Communities. The concert will take place on Saturday, October 18, beginning at 2:00 pm in the Main Dining Room at Pines Village.
The Northwest Indiana Rusty Strings Community Orchestra presents a vibrant concert experience ushering in the beauty and energy of the Fall season. Their program features stirring classical masterpieces, beloved pops selections, and dazzling Broadway hits that capture the spirit of the season.
Included in the program are Thriller, recorded by Michael Jackson, I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables, Music from Wicked, selections from Hansel and Gretel and Phantom of the Opera, October by Eric Whitacre, This is Halloween by Danny Elfman, Antonio Vivaldi’s Autumn from The Four Seasons, Amadeus Soundtrack Highlights and Danse Bacchanale by Camile Saint-Saens. In addition, audience favorites The Addams Family, Monster Mash and Ghostbusters will be presented with audience participation.
The NWI Rusty Strings is a non-auditioned community orchestra for musicians ages 18 and up, offering a supportive environment for those who want to continue playing their instruments. They regularly hold rehearsals at Pines Village Retirement Community in Valparaiso, IN. The orchestra is conducted by Carrie Ann Carlson.
Two concerts will be presented. The first concert begins at 2:00 CDT at Pines Village Retirement Village in Valparaiso with a second concert at 6:00 at Anderson's Winery and Vineyard. Food and beverages are available to purchase at the concert at Anderson's.
Donations to the orchestra are gladly accepted upon the conclusion of each concert.
This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend.
