The NWI Rusty String Community Orchestra presents its final concerts of the 2024-25 season with two Summer Sampler programs, featuring music to celebrate the joy of summer.
Included on the concert will be beautiful arrangements of "MacArthur Park" and "Cinema Paradiso" featuring Carol Hazen on piano. Also, Carrie Ann Carlson will be the featured violin soloist in Leonard Bernstein's powerful "Make Our Garden Grow" from "Candide." Other summertime favorites include "Fields of Gold" by Sting, "California Dreamin'" by the Mamas and the Papa's, "Tomorrow," from "Annie," "Where is Love" from "Oliver," and Selections from Elton John and Tim Rice's popular score to "The Lion King." Other music on the program includes the powerful theme from this season's popular television series "Yellowstone," and beautiful inspirational pieces "Dreaming" by Brian Balmages and "Sweet New Moon" by Yukiko Nishimura. The program will conclude with a rousing arrangement of "Irish Party In Third Class" from the movie "Titanic."
The beautiful summer program is sure to provide a delightful afternoon of music. The concerts are free and open to the public. Two performances will be presented. Concert #1 is at 2:00 p.m. CDT at Pines Village Retirement Communities, Valparaiso, IN. The second concert begins at 6:00 p.m. CDT at Anderson's Winery and Vineyard, also in Valparaiso. This concert will be held outdoors in the beautifully appointed garden area. Food may be purchased before the concert begins and drinks will be available to purchase during the concert.
