The Courage To Belong: A Heart Refuge Day Long for Black, Indigenous & POC
The wish to belong is part of being human. For many Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, this longing can feel especially tender, shaped by histories of displacement, erasure, and resilience. This retreat is a sacred space to honor that longing. It is a space to rest, reconnect, and remember our wholeness in the company of others who carry similar questions and hopes.
Facilitated by Rashid Hughes and Mama Ayesha Ali, this Heart Refuge gathering invites you into practices that center the body, nourish the nervous system, and awaken the heart. Through guided meditation, sound healing, sacred reflections, mindful movement, and circle sharing, we will explore how awareness begins with deep connection to ourselves, and how, from that rooted presence, we begin to feel into our greater interconnectedness.
This retreat is grounded in the truth that mindfulness does not elevate us out of our humanity, it brings us into a loving relationship with it. Belonging is not something we earn through perfection or performance. It is a courageous practice of choosing ourselves, choosing each other, and choosing to be here, as we are.
