Day-long workshop focusing on traditional village style dundun and djembe as played in upper Guinea, West Africa along with some traditional kasa dance for the final hour or the workshop.
The topic being the kasa piece Kondonaben. The focus here will be firstly establishing the basis of the rhythm melody on dunduns * becoming familiar with some variation patterns • correct feeling (phrasing) on djembe solo • learning some simple kasa dance steps.
Course tutor is Barra O Flanniagh from Monasteraden, Co. Sligo. He teaches specifically the traditional village style djembe and dundun music from the Hamana/Gberudou areas of upper Guinea.
Food is on a bring and share basis.
Djembe & dunduns are provided but people are welcome to bring their own.
This workshop will of mixed levels.
