Let's celebrate the magical monsoon season! Incredible lightning storms and the intoxicating aroma of creosote after the first rain are two of our favorite things! Enjoy fun presentations and educational activities about this summertime season. More details TBA.
Warden Oasis Theater:
"Cloudbursts & Creatures: Biodiversity of the Monsoons and How You Can Help Document It" a talk by Herpetologist and Writer, Dallin Kohler.
Monsoons are the powerful yet untamed lifeblood of the Sonoran Desert ecosystem. Join herpetologist and author Dallin Kohler to learn about how the survival strategies of many iconic desert creatures, from Gila monsters to spadefoot toads, are intertwined with these life-giving rains. As monsoon season is the best time of year to observe many organisms in the Sonoran, Kohler will also show how simple it can be for everyday "citizen scientists" to contribute meaningfully to scientific research.

The desert comes alive at night as nocturnal animals awake. Bats perform aerial acrobatics in pursuit of dinner, otters splash around in their pond, and scorpions glow green under black light. Bring your flashlight and explore, grab a refreshing drink and wander, experience a live animal encounter, scamper in Packrat Playhouse, feel the touch of a stingray, or participate in special nightly activities.
