Wirilda No 1 Trail - Tyers Gorge to Pipeline Bridge - Strzelecki Bushwalking Club

Starting at the Wirilda Pumping Station near Tyers, we will walk upstream following the Tyers River for approximately 6km, through the heavily forested Tyers Gorge until we reach the pipe bridge. We shall stop and have lunch overlooking the Tyers River before returning the same way. Along the trail we shall see impressive rock cliff faces, remains of the original timber piping and related infrastructure and beautiful views of the Tyers River. The track is well marked with a number of undulating sections. Walkers may expect to find lyrebirds along the way and many native flora specimens.

DISTANCE + GRADE: We have classed this walk as medium Grade 3 (the track is well marked with a number of undulating sections) approximately 12km (approximately 5 hours duration)

ABOUT OUR CLUB: Strzelecki Bushwalking Club aims to provide opportunities for outdoor recreational activities to a diverse range of people in the local and regional community. Club activities have a strong social emphasis, and the club prides itself in offering a wide range of activities to suit the diverse membership. Club nights are held on the second Wednesday of every month (except January). Meetings start at 7:30 pm and are fairly informal, usually with a particular theme such as a guest speaker, illustrated trip reports, social activities etc The Club has close links with the "Friends of the Baw Baw National Park", and frequently assists with their various environmental programs, including track clearing, W**d eradication and flora/fauna surveys.
