The Openest Mic is kicking off Pride month at Townsend Library…and we’re bringing one of the best New England poets as our feature, Luka Erausquin! 🌸🎙️
The Openest Mic isn’t just a chance to hear premier poetry, it’s a chance to share your own talent! Bring your five minute spoken word sets or two song musical sets to our mic with a supportive and attentive audience.
When we say spoken word sets, this means poetry, advocacy, sermons, speeches and monologues. Anything you want to say, we wanna hear!
And when we talk about music, that’s any and all genres, from country to mumblecore to acoustic folk. You can perform choreography or freestyle rap, anything with music gets you two songs on the mic.
There are no content restrictions, no age limits and no talent minimums. You don’t have to be great to have a great time, and this is a great way to meet future collaborators, too! The audience tends to be really engaged and supportive, come be part of that if you’re not ready for the mic!
This is how Luka self describes:
Luka Erausquin is a mutated beast that crawled out of a well in Western Ohio one day and began writing. To most "humans" he appears to be a 31 year old transgender poet currently residing in New Hampshire. He began preforming his works at Slam Free or Die in Manchester in 2022 and has not let New England's poetic community know peace since. Luka's works mostly include stories about his history of mental illness, his experiences as a queer american, and a lot of talks about greek mythology. Luka encourages everyone to make their own wings and take flight, even if the sun burns us alive, it'll be one hell of a take off.
