KITIBANA (Kee-tee-bah-nah) means Liberation in the native tongue Senufo from the northern region of Ivory Coast.
KITIBANA Festival is a new series of festivals centering dance styles deriving from the African Diaspora. Our mission is as follows: To cultivate a thriving community and network, where the African Diaspora in Toronto can reconnect with their roots, learn from each other, and build a future grounded in cultural pride and shared knowledge

Brazil Edition:
There isn’t a conversation about the African Diaspora without mentioning Brazil. The largest population of Africansoutside of Africa can be found in Brazil, and with that the sharing, the remembering and the liberating of African cultural dances, music, and expression of self is fundamental to Brazil.
KITIBANA Festival is a space to showcase and learn Brazilian dance forms that are linked to the African Diaspora— showcasing an essence, a way of life and a vision that is unique Brazil.
In sharing knowledge, we build community.
