Come summer comes a new project, a new idea. Sommerloch is a one-day event with two stages at the beautiful Hof Gut Eidt in Wallerode, Belgium, some three kilometers from Sankt Vith. The farm sports the perfect conditions for an event like this, with a big barn where concerts will be held and a beautiful meadow with beautiful old trees where we will set up a second stage.
We have secured a diverse lineup, delving into experiment as well as downright wayward summer vibes. There will be the whimsical kraut punk of Good Sad Happy Bad, a band composed of CJ Calderwood, Marc Pell, Raisa Khan, and acclaimed English musician, composer, producer, singer, and songwriter Mica Levi who have created soundtracks for films of Jonathan Glazer and the Small Axe TV series by Steve McQueen.
Multidisciplinary Manchester-based artist Chunky's abstract rap sound displays his pan-African disposition, with a catalog of work that spans over a decade with deep musical roots that start in the genesis of Grime in the north and expand into London's bass music hubs. Samizdat is a collaboration with the legendary and mystical Michael J Blood, confronting a Manchester musical perspective with a Detroit vibe. The atmospheric dream pop and ambient folk of Bristol-based trio Jabu uses a basis of downbeat soundsystem dub and Aylu's electrifying footwork and hallucinogenic juke have a mindbending quality, landing her an album release on Nicolas Jaar's Other People label soon.
The ultra-modern pop of Violet Heat, previously Vomit Heat, meanders between noise, drone, and pop, these days in a band format. Naomie Klaus's otherworldly adult fairytales are an experience that goes above and beyond, intense and intensely beautiful, and improv legends Ernst Reijsiger & Hans P. Kjorstadt perform melodic improvised pieces that highlight their idiosyncratic interplay and a masterful yet natural flow of ideas. Reijsiger is also known for his soundtrack work for the films of Werner Herzog. MIMI is a sonic storyteller who goes beyond musical boundaries, painting vivid and immersive soundscapes.
Furthermore, there will be DJ soFa's deeper end of the groove, the outer edge explorations of Fog Puma, the ambient hypnotics of Simsaara, a plunge into musical diversity by Pangea, and new local band Cosmo's perspective on bluesy guitar riffs, funky basslines, psychedelic keys, and progressive drums.
Some of you might remember that from 1999 to 2002, we curated the electronic music program for the Alive Festival right around the corner from this very location, with the different lineups featuring 808 State, A Guy Called Gerald, Speedy J, Swayzak, Robert Hood, Plaid and many more. There's some history to this spot for Meakusma, and we are thrilled to revisit it.

We are once again setting up a bus service from Brussels and back! A combi-ticket for the bus and the entrance fee for Sommerloch is a mere 50 euros, with no booking fee to be paid. The bus will pick up people in Brussels and drive straight to the farm in Wallerode, and will bring everyone back safely immediately when the event is over.
