Playing with the Past: Using Games and Digital Technology to Teach History

Humans have always been interested in depicting their histories for education and entertainment. Whether oral traditions, murals and tapestries depicting great battles, plays, and eventually films, people use the media available to them to express history through their lens.

Games and digital media offer people new ways to depict and experience history. As devices become more powerful and the tools to build complex simulation games become more robust, game developers can provide users with a deeper and more precise historical experience than ever.

Our speaker, gaming expert Paulo Ribeiro, will talk about how developers make immersive tools for historical experiences and how educators are leveraging these tools to teach the next generation. It’s sure to be a fascinating morning!
