This short woodcarving course is a perfect introduction to fine woodworking and furniture making, providing students with a practical hands-on experience taught by professional woodcarver, Lizzy Taylor.

Course Content:
Lizzy has many years of woodcarving experience, having originally studied the craft at a specialist woodcarving school in Finland. Lizzy bought her woodworking expertise back to the UK, where she has worked on exquisite high end projects for well known fine furniture companies. She has carved both architectural and sculptural pieces throughout her career.
No previous experience is required for this course. With guidance from Lizzy, you will learn to carve and create surface textures, and explore your own creativity in carving lime wood. Skills covered include:
Introduction to chisels and gouges for woodcarving.
Learn how to sharpen and maintain your carving tools to achieve high quality work.
Techniques for successful chiseling and carving.
Demonstrations on how to achieve different aesthetic effects and textures in your work.
How to transfer your design into the wood.
Methods of applying a finish to your work.
