Tom "TBone" Hamilton is a renowned bassist, vocalist, and producer who has left an indelible mark on the blues, jazz, and Americana music scenes in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. With a career spanning over three decades, Hamilton has established himself as a versatile and passionate musician, equally adept at leading his own bands or serving as a sideman for national and international touring artists.
In 2009, Hamilton founded The TBone Hamilton Band, a quartet inspired by the funky, New Orleans-style grooves of Booker T. and the MGs. This group became the foundation for his larger ensemble, TBone Hamilton’s Big Easy Revue, an eight-piece horn band that blends New Orleans funk, Texas blues, and jazz. The Revue performs tunes from artists like the Neville Brothers, The Funky Meters, and Dr. John, reflecting Hamilton’s deep connection to the "Holy Trinity of the groove"—jazz, blues, and funk.
A pivotal moment in Hamilton’s career came in 2013 when he launched TBone Hamilton & the Blues All Stars, a project born from his desire to capture the sound of his talented peers before they were lost to time. This endeavor led to the 2019 release of the EP "A Tribute to Willie Dixon," Hamilton’s fourth produced album, honoring one of his bass heroes with live and studio recordings featuring luminaries like TC Carr, Mitch Woods, and the late Bryan Lee, known as the Braille Blues Daddy.
Beyond his own projects, Hamilton has been a sought-after sideman, backing artists like Ronnie Earl (with whom he recorded on Rock Bottom’s "Harmaniac" album), Mitch Woods, and Bryan Lee. His collaborations extend to producing music videos and documentaries, including the 2020 release of "My Babe," shot in St. Petersburg, Florida, showcasing local landmarks and his beloved upright bass.
